First Impressions Last: Discover Your Doormat Personality

via*
Welcome to Hello Lemming, come on in! I hope you stay for a while and make yourself at home. I feel this is the beginning of great things between us. Come as often as you please to read this new lifestyle magazine/weblog. Feel free to flick me a comment. Everything is so shiny and new - and still being shaped into something for you to enjoy.

While on the topic of welcomes and homes - lets discuss doormats. What is your doormat like? Is it picturesque and inviting? Humorous? Or in serious need of an overhaul?

Surprisingly, all the doors I tend to come across are accompanied by generic doormats. Granted some of them have a flourish here and there, but they never seem to give the 'oh my gosh I can't wait to stand on that doormat and ring the doorbell' vibe. I get the feeling we must be either doormat shy or extremely uninspired. Thus it is time to discover your Inner Doormat Personality (IDP)....

The RATHER YOU DIDN'Ts
You dread the thought of visitors and see your doormat as only something to wipe the poop off your shoes after a visit to the chicken coop. Never fear, you are not alone. These doormats are right up your alley.

The MY HOUSE IS A ZOOers
You are a lover of animals large and small. Your mat is full of biddy-bids and fur, and has been thoroughly scratched. It's time for a new one. Please wipe your paws!

Also an adorable panda bear wearing glasses.

The COME RIGHT ON INers
Somebody turns up unexpectedly on your doorstep and it makes your day. You are the sort to have a jar full of freshly baked cookies and elderflower cordial at the ready. Your mat should reflect your friendly, homely nature. (You probably love welcome-mats so much you'd cover your floor with them.)

The EVERYDAY IS A HOLIDAYers
Come in and put your feet up for a while. Your idea of home is a haven, a place you can relax - like one big holiday home. You are Frenchy-chic and inspired by the ocean. The front door is always unlocked and ready to welcome whomever the tide brings in.

And a nice Hawaiian touch.

The HI I'M HIPSTERs

Picture a house full of mason jar lights and upcycled furniture.  Frankie magazines piled up on the corner of a secondhand record player playing a Bon Iver record. Pastel coloured buntings adorn the wall next to the mismatched clump of photo frames displaying artistically-shot photographs. Yes you know the kind. Sound familiar? You like to serve your guests herbal teas and pretty cakes. Your doormat has to be hip and most probably DIY.

The FUNNY GUYs
This kind of home is a bundle of fun. There is a water slide permanently setup in the backyard and the BBQ is always on call.  Let visitors know that they can check their seriousness at the door, because you're after a good time.

The DESIGNER ABODErs

You know the type - they are cutting edge and modern. Their homes are like works of art, interchanging bold colours with striking monotones and geometrical shapes. Their guests are tech-savvy and cultured, and wouldn't be caught dead discussing the weather. Could this be you? Then your doormat better live up to your reputation.

Also, just because it's Easter I thought I'd give you one last doormat to tickle your toes.
